About Cran Theatre

History

CRAN has been delivering high quality arts interventions in West Scotland’s communities for 15 years. Founded in Govan and named after the Fairfield Crane under whose shadow we had our base at The Pearce Institute.
We believe that communities are stronger, more able to withstand change and hardship and find ways out of deprivation by working together on projects of cultural and historical significance. We work to discover a community’s collective identity, its historical distinctiveness and sense of itself.

What we do at Cran Theatre

We work to discover a community’s collective identity, its historical distinctiveness and sense of itself. We then devise projects with members of the community and its leaders, active groups, employers and local government agencies to give local people the opportunity to celebrate their unique sense of belonging in an inclusive, instructive and edifying event of the highest artistic quality.

We believe

We strongly believe in the sharing of the ‘mysteries’ of theatrical performance by giving local performers the opportunity to work and learn alongside seasoned professionals and recent drama-school graduates thereby raising standards and ambition.
